Diontae Spencer shows ability to work in Canada for first NFL touchdown
Diontae Spencer, the former Canadian Football League (CFL) all-star, credits work as a dynamic returner in Canada and it is paid off in the NFL.
Spencer gained the first score of his NFL career after having scored an electric 83-yard punt comeback touchdown for the Broncos in Denver’s Week 14 victory over Carolina. That helped earn Spencer AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Spencer said in his post-game video conference that trying to get into the end zone, he felt like he had created a spark for this team.
He is a McNeese State University product, who has starred in the CFL and had his first 1,000-yard receiving season in 2018, which earned him the first a league all-star nod in his career. Before that, in 2017, he set a new single-game mark of the CFL with 496 all-purpose yards while he was playing for the Ottawa Redblacks.
Spencer showed that he was proud a lot of what he did. He did anything he could to be dynamic and help this team out any way.
Contracting the world health crisis couldn’t slow him down on the field, in spite of the fact that he tested positive for the virus at the end of November and had to miss two games. Although Spencer was out of the lineup, Tim McMahon admitted the job of the person fielding punts was to fair catch.
Spencer said those two weeks were rough for him. When he came back to practice, everybody embraced him, excited for him to come back, which showed how much this team believed in him and that encouraged him very much.
Spencer has collected 644 return yards for 2019, ranked 10th in the entire NFL. He was named in exchange for the Pro Bowl for his efforts and earned $ 495,000 USD in general salary. The player made $ 675,000 USD in the 2020 NFL season.
